Original Manifesto

Martin Aliga

Candidate for Senator

Martin Aliga:  Working to Secure Jersey’s Future for the Next Generation

My candidacy manifests belonging, resilience, and inclusivity, promoting empathy and mutual respect. I am committed to being transparent and approachable, engaging islanders in dialogue to shape workable policies that improve everyday life for everyone on the island.

I am a 47-year-old husband and father of five. I’ve lived in Jersey for 15 years since completing my Master’s Degree in Africa & International Development at Edinburgh University. In 2012 I married Mary Bisson, my Jersey girl.

I aim to serve Jersey as an independent, confident leader in the role of Senator because I believe that being elected, I will amplify the voices of the minority and the voiceless, whilst drawing on my personal experiences of feeling unheard and undervalued by those in authority.  Often political leaders are mistrusted; it is time to bring in a leadership determined to shape the next generation by empowering our children and young people who can sustainably carry on the same positive values.
